Pat flew out from West Virginia to care for me post-surgery in October 2013. I showed her several hats I’d chosen to knit for her, and Litchfield was her favorite. (She doesn’t like hats that make her look like an “egghead.”)

It was due to Pat’s eagle eye that we discovered very early I had a blood infection. Pat made me go in to the ER where they gave me an IV drip for antibiotics plus 14 days of oral antibiotics. I totally believe if Pat had not been with me, I’d have gone to bed for several days and never noticed the redness on the back of my upper arm. She may well have saved my life.
