I was just in the mood to knit something quick, and I didn’t think I’d come up with a better use for this free yarn + pattern from L’Atelier on Ventura, which they handed me in a bag with patterns and a pattern book during the 2019 LA Yarn Crawl, so I just cast on the 64sts, and followed it through to the end. I may have made a few mistakes—it felt like I did here and there—but it’s a messy yarn and pattern, and hard to tell, so it doesn’t matter :)

This is really a women’s size, probably medium, but I was able to stretch it over my head pretty easily. It’s 8” long, whereas I really need about 9.25”.

The pattern called for US 8 16” circs for the rim, and US 9 for the rest. I used my US 8 16” fixed ChiaoGoo needles for the rim, and, not having any US 9s in 16”, I went with my US 9 Clover Takumi bamboo DPNs, which worked fine. They’re usually a bit short for hats in my size, and I usually want slippery metal, but the weirdness of this yarn meant it slid pretty easily on bamboo, and with only 64sts, things fit well on the DPNs. I started with 16 per needle, but the pattern soon had me shifting things forward a bit on each needle to make repeats easier, so I ended up with extras piled up on the last needle, but it worked well.

I’m sorry you won’t be able to knit this, because the pattern, I think, is only available to people on the crawl, and this yarn doesn’t seem to exist outside of the free gift we received! It’s not listed on Ravelry, and won’t come up in any Google searches. Perhaps it was a spec yarn, sent to yarn shops to see if they were interested, or maybe it will be released in the future?
