more JST homework means more fun yarn from hobbii! this is the kind of homework I can get behind lol

Blanket #1:
weft: 8/2 cotton (blue), 8/4 cotton (grey)
treadling: “classic crackle” blocks in order, 12 picks per block, alternating 8/2 & 8/4

Blanket #2:
weft: 10/2 cotton (natural), 8/4 cotton (yellow, orange, pink, purple)
treadling: “traditional polychrome crackle”, 10 picks per block, 2 picks of 8/4 (twill) and one pick of 10/2 (tabby)

’traditional polychrome crackle’ is treadled with a tabby like this:

Block Treadling
A 1 2 A 1 2 B
B 2 3 A 2 3 B
C 3 4 A 3 4 B
D 4 1 A 4 1 B

all tied on and weaving now! blanket 1 is starting with blue 8/2 and cream 8/4 just to see how it looks. so far it looks good :)

blanket #1 finished, now to pick colors for the next one. so much harder when I’m not just arranging different shades of grey!

blanket #2 started - I don’t want to end up with nothing but yellow at the end of the warp so I’m starting with yellow, or what I thought was yellow. it’s really more of a mac and cheese color. I wasn’t sold on it at first but it’s growing on me.

Blanket #3: Italian style polychrome, blocks in point order, switching color order after each flower/stripe.

  1. Bright (Green), Light (Baby Blue), Dark (Charcoal Grey)
  2. Dark, Light, Bright
  3. Light, Dark, Bright
  4. Light, Bright, Dark

“Italian Style” polychrome blocks are treadled like this (no tabby, 3 pattern wefts)

Block Treadling
A 1 2 3
B 2 3 4
C 3 4 1
D 4 1 2

Blanket 4 is blues and greens with Summer & Winter. it’s not strictly polychrome (where the 2 pattern yarns are together between the tabbies), it’s polychrome-inspired I guess you could call it. Each pair goes P1, A, P2, B, P2, A, P1, B, the P1s are one color, the P2s are the other color, and the tabbies match the warp.

Blanket #5 was a little experiment in 4-color polychrome (straight 1234 treadling with color rotations) but I could see I was running low on warp so I only did ~18”. I want to come back to this.

Blanket #6 is back to classic crackle, but in linen this time. I wanted jewel tones and the cotton I had just wasn’t the right colors, but the linen was perfect. weaving was a little slow, my bobbin winding technique needs some work, but even slow weaving gets to the end eventually.

weaving is done! time to cut these off and do some fun laundry.
