Aug 15/25: wound the yarn for this yesterday. Suspect I’ll have to use some of my DROPS Flora to get enough brown/beige for this project. This’ll be my third Bicoloured Rooster. Safe to say I’m in love with the effect of this.

Aug 22/25: got done the second repeat today. As usual, had forgotten how this knits up. Glad that I’m making progress ‘though.

Aug 24/25: didn’t touch this project yesterday at all, but resumed today. One more repeat done (so far, might do more later today).

Sep 2/25: spent most of the long weekend working on repairing Kara’s backpack side pocket and getting my bookbinding project done. Was able to resume this yesterday. I’m in the 7th repeat now.

Sep 5/25: first week of grade 10 for ‘Tuna. I’ve been dragging my feet on getting much done on this project while we adjust.

Sep 6/25: went on a tour de force yesterday and got about 1-1/2 repeats done, to complete the 8th. I spent 4-1/2 hours today working the 9th. I may or may not work on this more this evening, but that 10th repeat should be my last.

Sep 8/25: completed the 10th repeat yesterday and had completely forgotten that the pattern calls for 2/3 of another one before working the remaining “key and basket” motif block to finish. So I’m in the midst of the former now. Update: just the key-and-basket left to work.

Sep 15/25: last week was basically a cleaning blitz around the house, so I didn’t have much opportunity to work on this. Just completed the first full key-and-basket motif section after the stripe section.

Sep 18/25: completed the second motif yesterday.

Sep 19/25: completed the third motif yesterday. Update: done the main part of the shawl! Just need to count what’s on the needle and p/u sts on the other side to begin the edge.

Sep 20/25: was struggling yesterday with the math on how to p/u 312sts on the other edge, but broke it down before bedtime -- there are 20 key motifs on the edge, which means I need to work 156 sts across 10 key motifs / 78 sts across 5 key motifs. The latter breaks down into per key motif st counts of 16-15-16-15-16.

Sep 21/25: was able to start the edge today. Am 2 rows in, working double seed stitch.

Sep 22/25: worked another couple rows today. Am creating increases flanking either side of the created centre stitch -- RLI, K1, LLI (rs only)

Sep 25/25: nearly done! Probably only have a few rows left to work in the border before I can bind off. I checked against the other two versions of this shawl that I’ve knitted up -- the one I made for me uses the i-cord b.o. per the original pattern, whereas I just did a standard b.o. for ‘Tuna’s version -- I think I’ll just use a standard b.o. for this one too.

Sep 27/25: b.o. yesterday! Still have to block. Update: blocking now. Should be a hot one today.

Sep 28/25: dried yesterday, was able to take FO pic today.
