Feb 14/12: Apparently, finishing a commission means I have to start a new project immediately! I’ve had this in mind for Kara ever since I picked up this yarn on sale. Working with Peruvian Highland wool for the past month really gives me an appreciation for just how smooth and silky this yarn is. Right now, I’ve got nothing but enthusiasm for this project. I’m hoping I can keep that momentum going until completion. I have decided to replace the garter stitch border with a double moss stitch; I prefer the look and texture of the latter. I have also used a heavier gauge yarn and a larger needle (US7) than is called for in the pattern because I’m unafraid of having a larger blanket for Kara.

Feb 15/12: charted this last night to make sense of what I was doing and realized I could have done things better. Coupled with the fact that I dropped a y.o. two rows down, I thought it best to frog. I will be re-attempting soon, on US6 needles to keep my knitting from being too loose. What I had looked and felt great! Update: I’ve gotten back on the horse.

Feb 18/12: I had to rip out a few rows of work after noticing that I had missed some YOs. I have caught back up.

Feb 22/12: Well, I can see that I’m going to need to take a much better photo.

Feb 23/12: New photo up!

Feb 25/12: Wove in all ends to this point because the light from the window was fantastic for detail-work. I might be about half-done the project overall.

Mar 3/12: Done! Done! Done! Done! Done! Done! Done! Will likely block tonight.
