I’ve ripped this out three times, and getting ready to rip it again. I’m going down in needle size and making it a bit narrower. (trying Ch 20)

There is a misprint in the pattern that’s really confusing. For the start of row 3, the stitch instructions don’t make sense. There is no dc from row 2 to skip and the instructions have you skipping two stitches to start off. This throws off the bobble counts for the following rows.

I seem to have solved it by making a double crochet in the last single crochet of row 2, and then continue on in pattern, 2 dc in each single crochet from row 2.

I contacted the designer and the pattern has now been corrected. I’m thinking going smaller on the hook was enough of a decrease, and I should have left the starting chain 26. Haven’t decided if I’m ripping yet again.

I did rip it again. Went back to ch 26 to start and it’s going much better this time.

2-8-12
Ended up ripping it out again last night. It started skewing on a diagonal. I was trying to carry one of the colors up the side, so it could be that, or I might add another stitch to the end of the row.

I refuse to let this scarf beat me. I’m stubborn like that.
