FINISHED!

MODS:

1) Extra repeat of the blossom chart
2) Extra yarnover to prevent ‘alien face’
3) One less yarnover in final row to lessen the points a wee bit. Probably could have reduced it to just one.

For mod no. 2, row 5 of edging chart 1 repeat goes

(O Y O . . \ . O O . / . .) and the row above adds a knit/purl to the top of the yarnover (same as the others)

(dots are plain knits, Y is funny upsidedown thing as per pattern)

I’m not convinced the mis-matched star chart is completely blocked out - next time I’ll make the pattern symmetrical.

Finished dimensions:

Before blocking: 94 x 40 cm
After blocking: 133 x 73 cm

I’m binding off - woohoo! I did a double yarn over instead of the triple in the last pattern row as I’m not too keen on the points.

12/11/2009

I’ve been too traumatised to write anything after quite a few mistakes led to some serious unravelling. I’m on the last chart now though, and only have 9 rows to go…

19/10/2009

Finished 5 repeats of the blossom chart. I don’t think I’ve ever unravelled a project so much!

Started the first edging chart and am now worried that I’ll run out of yarn. Fingers crossed!

1/10/2009

Ok so I changed my mind and did the original 4 repeats of the star chart. I’m half way through the transition chart and using a lifeline every other row!

27/9/2009

I thought I was doing really well, until I got to the end of a star chart and realised I had an extra star on one side. How on earth I managed that I’m not sure… Cue frogging…

24/9/2009

I’ve only got one skein of 600yds so I’ve done 2 star repeats before moving onto the transitional chart. I’ve got plenty for the shawlette but I’ve decided to use the extra on the blossom chart.

23/9/2009

I did the first star repeat, mucked it up, and did it all over again. I hate that in lace it’s so difficult to fix mistakes! Also, I’ve noticed that the pattern is not written evenly - i.e. either side of the ‘spine’ is the same, not mirrored. I don’t think it’ll really notice, but it’s annoying!

And so begins the Christmas knitting…

Cast on tonight and have only managed a few rows as it’s really rather fiddly! I can tell this is going to cause a few headaches. Not one to take to knitting night as it requires quite a lot of concentration (notice all the lifelines!) :)
