I was going to knit Revontuli-huivi with this yarn, I really was. It would have been very fitting: the yarn was sent to me by a Ravelry friend from Finland; the pattern is Finnish, and is designed to be used with this yarn. It’s beautiful--you’ve only to peek at the projects pages to see what a stunning combination it is.

But… I just didn’t feel it. Nope. I started and tinked the Revontuli at least 4 or 5 times. Finally, in the wee hours of the morning it came to me. This yarn wanted to be something else entirely. This yarn wanted to be… Feather and Fan.

Now it is flying on the needles, practically knitting itself. Very enjoyable knitting. Very simple and yet so satisfying. Teapot bless the garter stitch. I’ll take it over any.

As i knit along with this yarn, i am reminded of macrame owls. This is mad nostalgia-inducing yarn. The brown, the orange… it is 1974. And i love it!

Unblocked measurements: 22” x 25.5”
Blocked measurements: 24” x 28.5”

So, it’s not huge. I knit on 4’s because i liked the small-eyed feather and fan fabric that it made. I knew that i ran the risk of it not being long enough to make a stole or anything else, but i didn’t care. It is what it is, and i love it. With that said, it makes a perfect light-weight lap blanket to use while i’m knitting: big enough to warm my lap, small enough to not be in the way while i knit. Win-win!
