Notes to self:
Listen to EZ. She has the weirding way.
December 18, our 12th anniversary. Have finished main body of sweater. Am now told by Ann Budd to knit some sleeves before rejoining to knit yoke. Doubted my gauge and so took sweater off needles and put onto husband.
Am doing dance of relief and feeling clever. The sweater fits.
24 February: Have attached the arms and begun raglan decreasing. Budd’s directions here were not as clear as they could have been for a beginner, but i think i’ve figured it out. We’ll see if i’m right.
I was right.
i love this yarn so much i have composed an Ode to Romney Sheep:
If I should ever move from town,
I will buy a Romney brown,
And put it out to graze in back
With its friend the Romney black.
In the evening I’ll give hay
to the brown, the black and Romney grey.
This is entertaining me as i knit miles of stockinette.
3 March, 2009:
When some people say, “Every two rounds”, what they actually mean is every other round. Today was a lesson in miscommunication. And tinking.
4 March, 2009: Am feeling better about the whole thing. Have put smelling salts away. All is good.
Invaders Day: …and rip and rip and rip and rip. Knit a neck. Way too small. Try again. And again. And again. And again. And again.
The only reason why i haven’t bound this bastard off is because a boatneck sweater on my husband is right out.
25 March: Neck finally bound off.
Am having strong feelings about this. Am thinking bottom-up is not the way.
31 March: Hems complete and waiting to be sewn down. That is all.
4 April: It is done. And it fits. And he loves it. Haven’t blocked it yet, but i think it looks pretty good.
Thanks to Husband for always being a good sport and for having a great sense of humour.
Finished unblocked measurements:
29.5” long from collar to hem
22” wide (laid flat, measured side to side at ribs)
21” sleeves (measured from underarm to hem)
Finished blocked measurements:
The same.
