Notes

I used Judy’s Magic Cast-on and magic loop. I did NOT do the setup ½ round to create a new beginning of round as the Round 22 pattern’s right side is the knit round side – therefore the wrong side of the slipper is the right side if you choose to do the pattern round.

I purled the first round after cast on and followed Fleegle’s pattern to Row 20.

My mods:
(M1 = pick up the bar that lies between stitches with the left needle from back to front and purl into the front of it – this makes an even number of stitches for the YO, K2 tog pattern row. The K2tog at the beginning of Round 24 subtracts it.)

Round 21: P1, M1, Purl to end of round.

Round 22: YO, K2tog to end of round.

Round 23: Purl

Round 24: K2tog, K9, (transfer these 10 sts to a dpn),
Bind off 21, K10 (transfer these 10 sts to a dpn) Cut yarn. (see photo).

With back of slipper facing you, join yarn (see note below) and cable cast on 15 stitches to the right needle. Knit back across all stitches. Do not cut working yarn. Join a new piece of yarn (see note below) and crochet 15 chain stitches using a 3.5mm hook, (I did a few extra chains and pulled them undone when I reached the required number). Take a 3rd dpn and pick up the loop at the bottom of each chain and knit it onto right needle using previous working yarn. Insert needle into 15th chain and knit it together with last chain loop (securing yarn).

I used split crochet yarn end and cast off yarn end to sew on snap and button.

Knit 2 rows and cast off.

(Note: I weaved the end of the yarn in with a sewing needle before I commenced knitting. I put the sewing needle in where I wanted the working yarn to exit to the knitting needle and snaked down a few rows before weaving the end in.)

I had several goes at this pattern, frogging, writing and re-writing notes but I wasn’t going to give up. I was finally happy with it and my daughter rang to say she’s had another scan and IT’S A BOY!!!!!

My initial thoughts were: But it can’t be. I’ve spent #####@@@@++++ hours on these $$$$$$$$$$$$ lovely girly BOOTEES!!!

Back to the drawing board.

P.S. Wow, it’s a boy!
