Notes

When my sister and 21 year old niece were visiting our island from the Mainland, they saw a knitted cactus in a gallery for $70!! Admittedly, it was about 12 inches tall and in a nice pot, but $70? Hence my idea for the cactus garden for them to take home. I had a set of 3 black pots on a rectangular saucer planted with living succulents but I decided I’d like my sister to have them with the easy care variety in them! We had a lot of fun knitting them all!

Doubled the number of stitches for the tall cactus = CO 36.
Increased the Pin Cushion Cactus stitches by one third.
Knitted all knit stitches through the back loop in both of the above.

The third cactus is crocheted and this is the link to the pattern:

Shaggy Cactus
Using DK, CO 54 stitches - 3.5mm needles, join in the round
Round 1: k3 tbl, p6 to end. Continue until work measures approx ZZZZZ inches.
Decrease rounds:
k3 tbl, p2tog, p2, p2tog to end
k3tbl, p1, p2tog, p1 to end
k3tbl, p3tog to end (24 stitches)
Leave a 4 inch length and thread through remaining stitches with a tapestry needle to secure.

Weave eyelash or similar yarn through k3 columns and trim to 1/2” length. Leave enough room at top for a flower to sit flat.

I hope you found these notes helpful!
