Damn, this hat is NOT going well. I forgot how to do brioche apparently and did all the purl rows wrong. Redoing it correctly, here’s gauge:

Cast on looks like good at around 80-84 (or… 74?), but I have not yet found the right stretchy cast on. Tubular too tight, crochet-chain doesn’t bounce in with the rib. I might try JSSCO http://curiousknitter.blogspot.com/2009/09/jeny-stretchy-... but so far the sure-fire method seems to be provisional cast on, then later JSSBO. :/

Finished first hat (black rim) today.

• Provisional Cast on, 74 st, size 7+ needle
• Black edging, bind off size 7+ needle
• Brioche on size 6 needle, black yarn knit rows, yellow yarn purl rows
• Knit to 10 in before decrease starts
• Dec 1 in a row to get to 72
• 72/4 = 18
• Place markers every 18 st
• dec before and after each marker
• Last row decrease after each marker to have ~8 remain
