The Die is super important in this household, because it settles uncomfortable topics like “Who brings out the trash when everybody forgot to do so until now and now it’s past midnight” or “It’s saturday evening and we ran out of milk” (shops aren’t open in Germany on Sundays normally).

The Die both saves us from arguments, from not doing things at all because of indecisiveness, and from the hero/damsel-in-distress dynamics. We know that, on the whole, everyone will get about 50% of the chores and that The Die makes its “decisions” free of emotions. It’s great.
