Notes

04/01/19: Cast on. I am using sock yarn for the yoke, and I wanted it to be a loose gauge. Since this pattern doesn’t say “do x number of rows”, but instead says “knit to x number of inches”, I could use a smaller size. I did the short row shaping recommended in the pattern.

The yoke wasn’t long enough, so I did another set of increases before switching to the blue. I changed from a US 9 to a 10 for the thicker yarn. I tend to make my sweaters too boxy, so I did some waist shaping, decreasing 20 stitches.

After increasing back to the correct stitch count, I started doing the feather and fan pattern until I liked the length I had most of a ball of the blue left, so I added five feather and fan repeats to the sleeves. Then to balance things out a little, I picked up and knit two rows around the collar and bound off.

I took what yarn I had left and cast on 85 stitches to the US 9 circular needle. I worked the feather and fan pattern until I only had enough left to bind off to make the cowl.
