Notes

April 1, 2023

This project is an attempt to use up one of my large quantity variegated sock yarns. I’ve spent hours deciding on what kind of project to do - and I finally realize that I want to combine these with other yarns to create sweaters or tops. I just don’t wear shawls or scarves as much.

Swatch: (US 4) 24 st and 3 st garter edges with MC as Nightcap and these CC stripes (bottom to top):

4: https://www.ravelry.com/people/heatherwx/stash/aspen

7: https://www.ravelry.com/people/heatherwx/stash/palette
8: https://www.ravelry.com/people/heatherwx/stash/panda-wool

After blocking the swatch, I like the combination of the Panda Wool Print and the Superwash Merino with scattered highlights of Palette (but won’t be using Palette in this sweater).

Body:

  • Held double strand of Superwash merino from cast on to 6 stripes following separation of arm holes (24 rows)
  • 11 stripes: 1 strand of Superwash and 1 strand of Panda (22g of Superwash and 23g of Panda remaining)
  • 3 stripes: 1 strand of Panda and 1 strand of Aspen
  • 1 stripe: doubled Aspen

Sleeves: switched to size US 8 for tighter gauge when knitting in the round in small circumference. Use 11g of Superwash merino for each sleeve.

  • 6 stripes: doubled Superwash merino
  • 8 stripes: 1 strand of Superwash merino and 1 strand of Panda
  • 1 stripe: doubled Panda
  • 2 stripes: 1 strand of Panda and 1 strand of Aspen
  • 3 stripes: doubled Aspen

The Panda stripe amounts for the body vs. the sleeves vary because I wanted to make sure that I had enough yarn to complete a few stripes in the body with Aspen.
