Chose these socks as my take-along project for the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat in upstate NY. Took a bit to get used to swapping between colors for the slip-stitch patterning, but not much more complicated than normal sock knitting. I’m loving the texture, but I’m not as happy with the colors as I expected I would be. I think neither one of them are as bright as I’d like. The green pops on the slip stitches, but the dark red is a bit dull. I wish it had a pop of pink or magenta in there. Will keep on with the socks and keep that in mind for the next pair as I’m fairly certain I’ll be knitting these again.

Had to reknit the heel and gusset on sock number one. I did my gusset decreases too fast (every row instead of every other row), so ripped back to the heel turn and started again.
Pattern is written for 64 sts. I’m using 80, so adjusted the stitch count on my heel flap and turn:
40 stitches for heel flap.
For turn, I used 14-12-14 (remember to keep outside stitches an even number so decreases work out evenly).

First sock down and the color combo is growing on me. And I’m loving the slip stitch detail. Definitely see myself knitting another pair of these.

Finished! Took me a while to get around to knitting the toe and weaving in ends, but I like them! Much happier with the colors than I thought I would be.
This is definitely a pattern I’ll knit again! Will be fun to go through my sock yarn leftovers for a big jumble of colors.
