Making this out of Lindy Chain to have a nice light weight for summer.

I’m making the M1 size based on others’ comments, but making it longer due to the anticipated shrinkage.

My modifications:

I raised the neck by beginning the every 2nd row increases after 5 of the every 4th row increases.

I didn’t like the jog that happened even with the side purl stitch, so I used my favorite Jogless Join from the Icelandic Knitter after the purl stitch.

I continued to decrease on the sides every 12 rows (so, every 3rd stripe) until the piece measured 24 inches, then went to every 6 rows until I got the length I thought I wanted to wear plus 10% for shrinkage.

Before starting the 1x1 rib, I did one stripe in navy with a decrease every 21 stitches just so the bottom wouldn’t ‘bag out’, then did the 1x1 rib for 4 rows and cast off in 1x1 rib loosely. I didn’t use a stretchy bind off, but the bottom is pretty loose as it is.

For the sleeves: As the body was made M1, I stopped when I had exactly 12 stripes front and back, plus the 4 at the shoulder, so 100 rows total around the armhole. I picked up ONE STITCH for every armhole row using #2 and joined in the round = 100 stitches. The next round I switched back to #5 and K3, K2tog all the way around = 80 stitches, which corresponds to the M1 sleeve. This looked much nicer than having gaps from the pick up row.

Along the neckline I also picked up 1 for 1 using the #2. On the next round, I decreased only on the V part and NOT on the back of the neck by doing K3K2tog on the sides of the V. When I got to 3 stitches BEFORE the center stitch of the V, I did a SSK, K1, K2tog for the very center stitch instead of a centered double decrease as I wanted it still a little rounded.

Washed in the washer on warm AND dried in the drier - it shrunk a LOT at first, but upon wearing for 10 minutes, it STREEEEETCHES right back out… The drier will actually be good for this.

Finished size: 25” wide, 27” long, sleeves 10” from armhole join.

The linen/cotton blend is perfect for my California climate!
