I COULD NOT LOVE THIS SWEATER AND YARN MORE.

This is my first time using Holst Garn Coast, but won’t be my last! I LOVE the cotton/wool mix and very light hand. It is perfect for warmer weather items, and lends a lovely marl to this sweater. Ordering online was easy and CHEAP, the colors are plentiful, and I received the yarn from Denmark within a week.

Gauge then was an issue: The pattern calls for 24 stitches/10 cm, but the light fingering weight of Coast knit up just too lacy at that gauge. Using #3 needles, (3.25 mm), I got 26 stitches/10 cm. Consequently, I made the size L3 when I would usually be an M2 (knowing I could shrink it if I needed to!). Worked out very well.

Following other recommendations, I knit the textured sleeve first according to pattern on #3s, then knit the non-textured sleeve with a #2 (2.75 mm) down to 64 stitches. I frequently compared width on the non-patterned sleeve so as to not get too tight/loose.

I knit the purl rows with needles one size smaller, and bound off the rolled purled edge tightly so it would in fact roll the correct direction. After blocking, it did not bulge out.

Overall, I am THRILLED with this sweater - the style, weight, color, feel - and get compliments whenever I wear it!
