I used the Turkish cast on and cast on 8 stitches for each toe. After the increases, I will use the numbers given on the pattern.

I have added gussets at about mid calf. I want to use all of the yarn, and and I have large calves. I added two increase stitches at the center back on either side of the center two stitches, a total of 10 times to keep the stitch count at a multiple of 4.
