Aiming for a classic 70s colour combo.

• Didn’t do any purl stitches and added an extra stitch on the first row of the chart somehow - so that the pattern was symmetrical on either side of the thumb.

• On the first row of the second lot of stalks (35) I decreased the ‘extra’ 2 side stitches so that there were no gaps in the flower pattern. Because of this I did the very last stitch of rows 47&51 in the opposite colour to the chart, so that the row join/jog is less obvious.

• I thought the yellow was a bit pale on it’s own, so I decided to add an extra complimentary darker colour. I couldn’t decide which colour to use for the thumb flowers so I used both.

• I also did a tiny bit of corrugated ribbing for the tops (rather than plain ribbing) as I thought it worked with my colours, and ‘framed’ them.

This is my first pair of ‘mitts’ for myself because I can’t help but think that they can’t be warm enough. In fact, I almost turned these into mittens - but at the last minute thought I would finally give mitts a chance!…

…Update: where have mitts been all my life?! They’re warm enough for the current weather here and practical too - I see more mitts in my future ;)
