I would have loved to have used some of my more rustic yarns for this hat, but I find they make my head itch, so I’ll save them for gloves and cardigans…

I’ve always avoided pink like the plague, but on this occasion decided I wanted to add some. It meant ordering it in as there was a distinct pink void in my stash.

Oct 10: Restarted colourwork with the solid pinks as the pattern definition was subdued in a variegated yarn. I’m still not completely happy with the pink - not enough definition/colour difference, but never mind this time. I still like the hat enough and the pattern is great.

Oct 17: I can’t find the scales I weighed my yarn on originally when added to stash (and after using one yarn it still weighed more than it did originally!), so the yarn amounts are sort of estimated & possibly not that accurate.
My only change was to omit rows 23-26, and I used 3.25mm needles for the colourwork.

Oct 19: blocking.

I was thinking of adding a pom-pom but I’ve decided I don’t want to obscure the beautiful crown pattern. So instead if I fold the brim slightly it’s a lovely snug fit.
