08/08/08: This will be my second Snuggle for the Snuggles Project. It’s also an entry in the 2008 Ravelympics Pets Pommelhorse event.
08/16/08: Finally getting started on this project. I wasn’t going to start anything new until I finished my old WIPs for the Ravelympics, but I can’t stand it. I need something new to work on! So, I’m giving myself a break and doing this for a little while.
Cast-on 82 stitches, which should get me the 14 inches I’m shooting for. I’m going to alternate every two rows between the brown and the variegated. And, yeah, I know the colors are funky. But, hey, it’s thrift store yarn I got super cheap. It is making me feel pretty nostalgic for 1975 though…
08/17/08: I decided to frog what little bit I had done and switch up to size 10.5 needles. The stitches were just a bit tight for me on the 10s and it was making my hands hurt. I don’t know if it’s the older yarn or what, but it’s fine with the 10.5s. And the pattern isn’t any less cushy with the slightly larger needles. Kept the 82 cast-on stitches.
08/18/08: I’m really liking this pattern so far. Actually, it reminds me a little bit of knitting the heel flap on a sock… really easy.
08/19/08: Finished! I guess alternating the colors helped because this didn’t turn out as ugly as I thought it would. It reminds me more of Autumn and Thanksgiving now than the 70s.
This pattern is very cushy and squishy-feeling. My model, Mindy, didn’t want to get off of it when our photo shoot was over! I think it will be nice and comfy for a homeless animal.
In memory of Wakko, who passed away five years ago today.
