Notes

This is my first all-over lace project, and it’s the pattern I would recommend to anybody wanting to have a go at lace. I loved it at first sight, and ever since I had a go at Rowan’s Cocoon, the project climbed up quite a few positions in my queue.

I had a lot of fun knitting it. I struggled at first and had to frog it about 5 times until I got the gist of the pattern, which is very easy (possibly the easiest alongside feather and fan) but needs a bit of concentration if you’re a total beginner like me. I’m proud to say that, by the end of it, I managed to work the neck shaping without problems.

I used one whole ball for the neck, to make it longer. I wanted something more dramatic.

A tip if you don’t want the sleeves to flare (which makes it difficult to wear this under a coat, should you need to): When binding off the ribbing, purl together the purls, and then BO. (k2, BO 1, p2tog, BO1, k2, BO 1 …)

I love vine lace. It’s so gracious. A very nice sweater, I wear it a lot. I hope pictures will be coming soon.
