There’s a first time for everything: working with beads in crochet wasn’t new for me, but the way it is described in this pattern was.

I used 8/0 rocailles in the body of the wrap and 6/0 rocailles and 6 mm beads in the twisted fringes.

Don’t be scared of those fringes: if you struggle, put the project aside for a bit and try again. I did about 40 fringes in one and a half day, and the rest of them (around 130) in under a day, just because I found an easy and comfortable way of adding the beads and securing them.
