I wanted to see how for the yarn would go. Very far, these will become knee-high socks with a contrasting heel and toe.

2017-09-19

Knitted the toe.

I knit a round toe inspired by the chilly dog, but with less rows in between the decreases.

K2tog, k5 8 times.
Work 3 rnds with no decreases. (48 stitches)

K2tog, k4 8 times.
Work 3 rnds with no decreases. (40 stitches)

K2tog, k3 8 times.
Work 3 rnds with no decreases. (32 stitches)

K2tog, k2 8 times.
Work 2 rnds with no decreases. (24 stitches)

K2tog, k1 8 times.
Work 1 rnds with no decreases. (16 stitches)

K2tog 8 times. (8 stitches)

pull yarn through 8 stitches

2017-09-19

Putting in afterthought heel at 15cm from tip of toe.

Creating a gusset for afterthought heel. Picked up 2 extra stitches on each side (60 stitches in total for the heel).

Started knitting on one side, 8 stitches.

Turned, purled back to start of row, and then 8 further.

Turned.

knit across to other corner, picking up the double stitches (on the left side only, the right side has double stitches left)

k8 beyond corner, turned, p8

decreasing 60 to 56 (probably should have done that at the start…)

Followed the same decrease pattern as for the toe.
