5/14/16: Augh! Really struggling to like the short rows on this shawl. I was doing a lift when knitting the stitches from the wrap and turn on the short rows, but it created a weird twist. Checked out VeryPink knits blog post and noticed in the comments that she said NOT to lift the stitches. So, I frogged back to the first half-form and did it again without lifting. I like it even less! Maybe, I’m just focusing too much on one line of the piece. :/
5/7/16: I don’t have much experience carrying the yarn up the side. It was looking okay by ridge 75, but the first 50-60 ridges were kind of awful. Plus, the size 5 needles hit gauge but the fabric looked loose. But, I really like the pattern and the way the forms were looking. I like it so much, I frogged my work! Starting again tonight on size 4 needles. :)
5/6/16: Definitely a strange pattern. I took some time to work out an Excel spreadsheet and that’s helping. Once I got past the learning curve, it’s fun to knit. Even though it has short rows!
4/10/16: Went up a needle size to hit gauge.
01-02-2021 Finally off the needles!
Well, that took forever. It’s been riding around in my knitting bag for so long, it will seem strange without it. I should be able to carry 2 more projects in it’s stead.
Sadly, the turns on the short rows for the last third left large holes. I had apparently forgotten how to do it. By the time I realized what was going on, I was to the border. I thought about ripping it back, but with the colors up the side, it would have quickly become a tangled mess. I might be able to fix it with duplicate stitch. It would show on the back side but so do the yarns carried up the side. I don’t know. I’m not doing it tonight.
Tonight, I will celebrate getting it off the needles, bury the ends, and figure out how to block it.
