I wanted wrist warmers to match the Foliage hat pattern available at Knitty.com. I came up with this:

CO 28
Split onto three DPNs, (12, 8, 8)
K2 P2 ribbing for 4 rounds

Needle 1 is always a knit row.
Needles 2 and 3 Openwork Leaf Pattern
Continue working in the round until the Openwork Leaf Pattern is completed twice.

K2 P2 ribbing for 4 rounds
BO loosely
Weave in ends

Openwork Leaf Pattern
1: K2, Slip1K2TogPass, K2, YO, K, YO
2 and all other even rounds: Knit
3: K1, Slip1K2TogPass K1, YO, K3, YO
5: Slip1K2TogPass, YO, K5, YO
7: YO, K, YO, K2, Slip1K2TogPass, K2
9: YO, K3, YO, K, Slip1K2TogPass, K
11: YO, K5, YO, Slip1K2TogPass
