I bought 10 skeins of white yarn, for £2 a skein (reduced from £8.99!) with the intent of overdyeing it.

I dyed it a lovely shade of pink / purple - one of the skeins is considerably lighter though, which is fine because I can use it for something else.

I think I will end up knitting the cabled section a little longer as I do like a longer top, although I doubt I’ll use the full 9 skeins!

I had already cast this on last night and got an inch and a half, but realised that I had managed to get one of the purled sections the wrong way round (there were 3 stitches of purls when there should have been 2), plus I’d managed to turn a couple of cables the wrong way. Where I’d joined in the round was a bit loose too. Sooo, I’ve frogged it and I plan to cast it on again this evening.

It’s an interesting enough project and the cables are easy enough to remember (I blame college for me getting it the wrong way round!!). Will be casting on again this evening :)

09/06/13 - I now have 10 inches of the cabled section, but I would like this top a bit longer, so am making the cabled section longer as suggested. Am going to check again after 15 inches. I am cabling without a needle as suggested in the pattern and it definitely makes things easier. I must say, I adore working with this yarn, but I think this top will be a warm one :)

23/08/13 - It’s been a hot summer so I haven’t worked on this as much as I would have liked to. However, I have the body up until the armholes done, 1 sleeve and I’m about 1/4 of the way through the second sleeve. Still a dream to knit and I am still really happy with it.

31/08/13 Finished! I think if I were to knit this again, I’d do extra rows on the yoke to make it a little higher.
