Notes

I wanted to knit one of these as soon as I saw Lynda wearing one on the Great British Sewing Bee on the BBC.

I tracked down the shawl and the pattern and was excited to cast on.

I used the yarn from here and it’s a little scratchy, fine for outerwear though and has softened after a wash in woolwash and fabric conditioner. I suspect it’ll soften more after another wash.

The pattern is easy to knit, although beware, I needed a lot more yarn than I thought I would. I had cut 2 rows as I didn’t think I’d have enough yarn to knit it - I chose 2 rows of stocking stitch from section 3 to cut, in the last ripple.

I bought just over 1000 meters of yarn and only have a teeny bit left, so when the pattern author suggests buying that extra skein of yarn, I would definitely do so. I’ve included a picture of the yarn that I have left over, if it helps.
