I love how this turned out! Tanis’ colours are always amazing and I’m just thrilled with how well Rose Grey and Fig go together. It’s a very classic look. :)
The pattern is really great. The instructions are clear (written only), and the lace section is easy enough to wrap your head around after a couple of rows. The shawl itself is very wearable and you could very easily do this shawl in one colour. Which I will likely do, later, because I still really want that mossy green one…
PROJECT NOTES
July 24
I’m very flattered that Tamy asked me to test knit her new pattern! I’m excited to get started. But I have to order my yarn first. :D
August 10
After being rerouted all around the city and back, my yarn has finally arrived! I’m using Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label in the colours Rose Grey and Fig. So, more of a purple-y pink grey ash, then. Hah.
August 20
I’m finally starting this! The first section is complete; so far so good. Even the garter tab looked good on the first try, and usually I have to rip that out a few times. Next up: the lace section.
August 28
Finished the lace section today. I haven’t run into any issues yet! The lace is very pretty; I’m excited to see how it blocks out.
August 29
Just about ready to start the contrasting colour; knitting projects go so fast when you’re not working 60 hours a week, haha. I’m really enjoying this knit, and while I love the colours I’ve chosen, I’ve been dreaming this shawl done up in just one colour - a bright, earthy green. Maybe Tanis Fiber Arts’ Sprout or Georgian Bay Fibre Co’s Whitestone Moss…
September 5
Almost done! Just the garter border left now. I’m so happy with the colours I chose; the Fig and Rose Grey bring out the best in each other.
September 8
Officially done knitting and bound off this evening. All that’s left now is blocking and photos, so if it could stop raining any day now…
September 21
I ended up blocking this twice in order to really open up the lace, which seemed to close up a lot the first time around. I think I just took the pins out of it too soon the first time. Now there’s some really great stitch definition to the lace areas. :D
