Charlie chose the Kidz Orange for the main color with primary red hems and borders.
He also requested

• a slit in the wrist cuffs to put his thumbs through. I worked this 1” from the CO edge in the first column of purls for 7 rows like a vertical button hole using the tails to reinforce the edges.
• no button closure
• a shallower depth to the shawl neck. This may not work when worn. Placket section began on pattern Row 26 of that section w/ CO sts worked in k1 p1 ribbing instead of garter st & slipping the last 2 sts as per pattern. At Row 26, switch to smaller needle and work neck ribbing.
• hood border worked in ribbing (instead of garter st) with red yarn. Here I wanted a purl st worked next to the St st orange hood which worked okay but I didn’t consider the graft join being off a st due to the way it’s constructed. I began the red border knitting a single row then back to ribbing (to eliminate the purl bumps on one side). Then used the red yarn tails to attempt to cover up the purl bumps on the opposite side.

Finished measurements:

• chest width 15.25”
• underarm to hem 14”
• underarm to cuff 15.5” one inch longer than the pattern to accommodate the slits.
