I reworked the first sock for two reasons. First, although the stranded knitting looked okay, pulling it over the heel was harder than it should be. Second, I used llama yarn for the green stripe then remembered it isn’t machine washable & might either felt or shrink. So, I inserted life-lines and tinked the sock from the row above the stranding to the brown row between the white stripes in the motif. Then reknit that part (using sock yarn for the green stripe) and grafted the two pieces together. It worked!
The only change I made to the pattern itself was to use a green stripe under the chicken motifs to liven it up a little.
Ladderback Jacquard worked well to manage the floats longer than 5 sts, generally spaced every 3 sts.
Foot length before dec 7.75”, total 9.25”.
