Notes

Jacob and a school friend have named their small cat toys Fatty Catty. He requested a cat motif for this year’s birthday and created a drawing on his iPad. I translated that to a chart which he approved. After viewing a photo of the swatched motif, Jacob requested smaller ears and an even mouth. The mouth was adjusted with dup st and the ears reknit onto the swatch. Second time was a charm. Since only 3 skeins of the purple yarn were available ANYwhere, I knit the swatch with another yarn and glad I did as I’d have lost the yarn-chicken race. The motif used about 15 g total of white and black Euro Baby plus pink Cascade Yarns UltraPima.

Pattern mods:

  • Used Old Norwegian cast on
  • Began front & back ribbing w/ p2 to place the seam in the purl ditch. For the sleeves, started w/k3 to abut k w/p columns.
  • Started the chart (including the plain Row 1) on row 43 of the front. Armhole shaping on Row 31.
  • Worked 10 rows after the chart then separated the front.
  • Joined both shoulder seams prior to neckline pick-up. Picked up 16 sts on left front, m1r, k into st at top of last column before held sts, m1l, k11, m1r, k into st, m1l, pu 16, k 27 (76 sts). Knit 8 rds of 2x2 ribbing, BO in patt.
  • pickup ratio for the sleeves was 2 sts: 3 rows. They seem to fit okay into the hole.

Dimensions prior to gentle wash/dry:
Shoulder to hem 20.5”
Armhole to hem 13.5”
Armhole to cuff 14”
Chest width 16”
Armhole depth 6.25”

Post wash/dry dimensions remain about the same. The length from shoulder to hem was 19.75” which may be due to the way the seam rolls after blocking.
