This is an engrossing knit. And it does require attention to counting - I restarted several sections due to lapses in attention.
Since my sock yarn remainders exceed all other weights, this chick is Bantam weight.
The stuffing is dark in color, made of recycled wool and yarn, acquired via another knitter who got it on Etsy. The smaller needles were used on the crown and waddle as that yarn was closer to fingering weight.
A couple of minor pattern mods:

• used 3-needle BO on the center tail join. Crochet would probably looked better.
• the tail feathers are not sewn together. Rather I worked mostly vertical seam leaving the edges open so they flap a bit.
• the eyes are embroidered using the spider stitch.
