The gauge statement in the pattern doesn’t specify whether it’s over St st or the Texture pattern. My gauge in St st prewash was 35 sts/4” and postwash 35 sts/4”. In the pattern st prewash 33 st/4” and postwash 34 sts/4”. I wouldn’t want the fabric any denser so stuck with the 2.25 mm needles.
The only alteration made to the pattern was to carry the partridge heel st through the entire heel and add it to the entire ball of the foot in an attempt to forestall wear.
