General notes:
Pretty funky construction and I’m not sure everything is in the right place. There is a raglan-like line down the front shoulder where the short rows end.
However, it fits well enough for those days that you are busy all day and just need to keep your torso warm. I’ll combine with a longsleeve and wear it to work this winter.
Added extra length because I am 190 cm (6 feet 3 inches) tall.
Knitting notes:
Because of knitting hand, I go up half a needle size to 6 mm to get gauge. Perfect spot-on.
Altering this pattern:
- Knitting the collar in moss stitch.
- Also adding 10 cm (14 sts) extra length because I am 190cm tall.
- Also knitting the collar without a centre-back seam.
So I started with double the amount of stitches to merge left front and right front in one pattern piece. (Plus extra stitches to compensate for my 6”3’ tall body.
I’m knitting the front 8 centimeters in moss stitch to get a contrasting collar, and the rest of the front in plain stockinette.
The double amount of stitches means I’m starting the left and right front panels already joined together, knitting from one hem to the other.
After 8 centimeters, swithcing to stockinette for the remainder of the front panel.
When starting decreases, park one half of stitches onto a separate needle (separating front left and right panels again). Work decreases for one half as per pattern. Then pick up the other half and work decreases for the other half.
UPDATE April 2021
I’ve worn this cardigan for two winters now, and it’s pilling massively.
