Notes

After starting and unraveling some practice bits numerous times to get the hang of crochet again after many, many years I have started this jacket but hope that with blocking it grows considerably otherwise it will just fit a small child but I will soldier on just for the sheer challenge of it and because whatever it looks like at the end I will have learnt how to crochet again:-)
22/09/2012 Started with a size 6mm hook - I will undo this and start again using a size 7mm hook because it is obviously too tight a fabric and this yoke has turned out tiny but it was good to practice the stitches and I think I was doing those wrong as well! I still love this pattern but found that as it skips from page to page in the book for different instructions and sizes I was getting confused so I resorted to writing out just the bits I needed in order as I needed them in a notebook and following that.
3rd Oct 2012 Have found out that I was doing the sc AND the dc wrong, I had to look at another American book to set me straight!! so unravelled and started again. I’m now down to the end of the yoke and it actually looks quite nice using the 7mm hook and much nearer the correct tension. Have ordered some more balls of the yarn as I know I’ll run out.
5th Oct 2013 Have put in the wedge bust inserts and added an extra two rows to the body. Must have gone wrong somewhere because it has now changed from having the right number of shells for a medium size to having the number for the large size! - oh well I am pear-shaped anyway so will carry on.
15th November 2013 Have finished the crochet - need to block it, sew in the ends and take photos :-)
7th Dec 2013 After waiting for the buttons to come from Ebay have finally finished it. Also have 5 balls of yarn left as I over-ordered. Took ages because it was left to hibernate for a long time but the crochet grew quickly when I did work on it. I did not put the mesh finish on the sleeves as I felt they were long enough. Probably should have done it one size smaller but have enjoyed doing this one :-)
