Notes

Used two strands together (1 mohair/1 wool) instead of angora. Used size 7 needles instead of 9 suggested on yarn label to get the gauge. Altered the pattern via knitting slightly less stitches and rows in certain spots in order to make the beret slightly smaller than pattern calls for.

Also did not use elastic in the inner band of finished hat as called for in the pattern - it did not seem necessary as it fit snuggly. This hat is likely heavier and bulkier than it would be as knitted in angora, but it turned out very nicely, indeed. Probably has more body with these yarns vs. floppy/soft in angora.

Lovely yarn, especially used together. Very pretty when the mohair & wool is used separately, as well. The colors are gorgeous and I hope they remind Beverly of her vacations in Hawaii, as she loves it so much, there.

I’m thinking of making a matching, short style neck scarf to match, but will probably send this off in the mail so it will arrive in time -- since there is some yarn left, it would be nice to have a set. . . perhaps I will send the matching scarf to her for Christmas.

Happy Birthday to Beverly!
