This video tutorial was essential for me in making the petals correctly: https://youtu.be/XaWol-52NQE
Made the centers a little differently. Did two DCs between each chain to make the centers more full. Need to post a picture of the altered flowers.
11.3.14 - I need to get serious about making these flowers! I only have the first four rounds done on 16 flowers. I still need to do a round of green for the leaves and then some rounds of granny stitch. I am thinking I will make several rounds of granny stitch around each flower so I have to make fewer of them than originally intended.
12.3.14 - Thought I was done with making the flowers but realized I needed five more. Then I realized, AFTER weaving in the ends of the first five rounds, that I’d made a mistake in several of them. It would cause the squares to go wonky, I’m afraid, so I had to unravel them to that point and redo it. I will say this, I’m an excellent end weaver inner because they were hard to undo! Lesson learned: don’t weave in ends unless you’re certain you’ve made no mistakes.
I’m going to be pushing it to get this blanket done on time, but I’m still going to try!
3.16.15 - Obviously didn’t get this done by Christmas! Picking it back up to continue. Decided to make 13 more flower squares, for a total of 48 six-inch squares. Will do a six-inch border and edging around them, so hopefully will end up with a 48 x 60 afghan. That’s the plan anyway!
3.27.15 - Doing a single crochet join in white. Currently halfway done. It’s a little smaller than I’d hoped, so I’m going to do a round of gray around the border, then a round of each color for six more rounds, and then a double ruffle, I think.
4.2.15 - Much smaller than I’d wanted! Instead of doing more flowers, I’m just making a wide border. I’m doing four rows of white, two rows of color, four rows of white, two rows of color, etc. until it’s as big as I want it. Then I’ll do a double ruffle in gray and white.
4.11.15 - Done! All ends weaved in so I’m not tempted to undo and make changes. Ended up being 48” x 63”.
