Notes

*** Looks like there is an error when it comes time to put underarm stitches on hold. Instructions have you place underarm stitches on holder and then continue knitting, which would leave a long strand over the held stitches. Instead, I knit the 18 underarm stitches and then transferred them to a holder.

1 hem finished, 1 sleeve almost finished. Should start second hem and sleeve by the weekend.

Sleeves: 15 rows after final increase

Body joined. Sleeve 2 almost finished with twisted rib.

In my haste to join in the round, I missed the instruction to decrease stitches across the hem and continue with garter stitch for total 4 rows. So… ripped back to the hems, fixed the garter and rejoined. Glad I caught it now, I would have had 10 sts too many!

Decided to make this a little longer. As written it is 14” from the underarm, and I added an inch as follows:
One extra cable repeat during the straight waist (about 1/2”) and the rest to be added after the final increase (total of 17 cable crossings + 2 rows should be just right.) I have about 6 more rows to go and then I’ll be ready to join for the yoke.

Sometimes even the not-so-quick fix can cause trouble. When I put this on the dress form Friday afternoon, I thought I’d finish up Saturday night. I had 12 more rounds to go, but each even row now had a double decrease per repeat (a decrease of 30 sts per round for my size). Easy Peasy.
But as I looked at it Saturday afternoon something just seemed off. And then I realized I had miscrossed a twisted stitch in the front, center panel. I considered fixing it by duplicate stitch but when I sat down with Saturday night, I decided to drop down 16 rows and fix it properly. After about 6 rows, I found it difficult to manipulate the stitches and that’s when I noticed my fabric was felting!
What I should have done was rip down the entire yoke to before felted stitches, cut the yarn, and join in the last remaining full hank. Instead, I ripped back to the last good, fixed row, and reknit yoke. But you can see that felted spot, especially since it is right in the middle of the FRONT, CENTER repeat.
I’m hoping with a good soak, and block, the expected blooming will help lessen the impact.

All that remains is 8” of twisted rib.

20 more rib rows to go…

And finished. Just needs a soak.

Yarn totals: Added 1” to body and broke into 8th hank with about 2” left of the ribbing. My guess is if one didn’t add length and was happy with a neck a little shorter than 8.5”, this size could be made with 7 hanks.
