Lorraine Major’s 5 hour baby sweater variation- contrasting cuffs, neck, front and bottom bands

I make these sweaters for a charity which always needs boy sweaters more than girl sweaters and wishes to not offend any cultural beliefs as to what each gender should wear. After many plain sweaters, I branched out.

Intarsia technique for the front bands.

Yardage (measured once) : neck band 6 yards for 5 rows of garter stitch. I usually cast on 37 stitches for a larger neck and adjust the increases in the yoke.
Front band of 3 stitches in garter stitch- about 6 yards a piece.
Bottom band- 16 ½ yards for 7 rows garter stitch
Cuffs-5 yards each for 7 rows garter stitch.
The rest of the sweater took me about 155 yards.
