20100608: This shawl won first prize in its category, Lace Shawl or Stole, Fine Yarn, at the KW Knitters Guild 2010 Adjudicated Show. Anne Hanson adjudicating.

Part of the prize was a skein of Wellington Fibres Laceweight Mohair yarn - which is the yarn the shawl was knit from!

The shawl now resides with my Mom, who has had it with her through a few of life’s adventures, including camping road trips and hospital stays.

20090709 It’s all over but the blocking. DONE!!!!!!

20090618 Dammitall. Just slightly more than a year working on this, and I have run out of yarn, not quite halfway through the edging.

Now going to hide it somewhere and cry, until I think of what I can do.

I was pondering taking on the Anniverstary Mystery Shawl, but didn’t know for whom or with what I would knit it. Then, on a trip to Wellington to pick up some mohair locks for blending, I stumbled on this yarn. 1 skein each, only of two complimentary purple colours. Just enough for this shawl. I’m starting with the semi-solid, and then will switch during the 3rd section to the handpaint, which has purple, blue and bronze tones.

That’s the plan, anyway.

20090127 update: Still only about 1/4 of the way into section 4, and still on the semisolid yarn, but getting low. Will probably start alternating rows with the handpaint soon, and knit the 2nd half of part 4 in the handpaint.
