I’ve gotten inquiries about one of my Ravatars, so I thought I’d link to the pattern/kit/monkey/socks that are for sale.
I made mine (the first & last pictures) from a kit that comes with several baby-sized pairs of “work socks” (the monkey colors) and the rest that you need for stuffing and sewing together. You can either just buy a pattern, or the whole kit - my suggestion is the kit, only because those socks are hard to find (update: the Etsy seller I’ve linked to below has the socks). You can also make them from pastel baby socks, and they’re equally cute. They make a great package decoration for a baby gift. (Use child-safe or embroidered eyes if you’re going to make them for a small child.)
Here’s where you’ll find them (info as of 6-11-10):
a monkey already made as a keychain - $12.99 Picture #3 in my pictures here
the pattern only - $7.00 page says “sold” - as of 9-4-10, and looks like she’s not selling the pattern alone
the kit for making 6 monkeys, including pattern - $12.99 - also shows some done in pastel socks - ditto - says “sold” 9-4-10
12 pr. socks + pattern $7.99 - I think this is a slightly different pattern (monkey has two distinct legs). Picture #4 in my pictures
New info 9-8-15:
6 pr socks $8 (now called sugarsandwichdesigns)
The pattern $4.99
They were super simple to make if you have any experience in hand sewing at all.
If you did want to knit some mini-socks yourself, or the complete monkey shown in the 2nd picture, you can use the Patons Classic Wool, light grey marl for the body of the sock (and just about anything for the cuff and heel). I found a pattern for that monkey at the Michaels website, and I think it’s the same pattern here on Ravelry.
I’m not affiliated with overtherainbowdesigns, just thought I’d make it easier for people to find. (She’s also got a lot of really cute baby knitwear & patterns for sale.) Please read her descriptions carefully in case I’ve mis-stated anything here.
