I belong to a fb group called “100 years shawl a long” which started out with people making red shawls in honor of the suffragettes for the 100 year anniversary of our right to vote. As time went on, the discussions on the group shifted to how Susan B Anthony and the other suffragettes were racists towards women of color after they got the right to vote. So I changed up my thought process and knitted the red stripe to represent the original suffragettes and the blue represents all the others that have suffered voter suppression. This is my 100 year anniversary Suffragette Shawl.
