Notes

I started with a cable cast on and felt that it looked a bit sloppy, so I ripped it out and cast on again using the waitress cast on method.

May do an icord or may use this waitress bind off method. Haven’t decided.

Weights

Ribbing (size 6 needle)

Attached second ball of tan/grey yarn after 23 rows of ribbing.

Finished ribbing (3.5 inches) at 23 knit rows. Used 58g yarn total for ribbing and tan stripe.

Mosaic (size 6 needle)

After 2nd mosaic rep:
27.7g grey/tan remaining
27g white in ball one

After 3rd mosaic rep:
6g used, 21.7g grey/tan remaining
7g used, 20g white ball one

After 4th mosaic rep:
6.2g used, 15.5 grey/tan remaining
7.3g used, 12.8g ball one white

Stripes:
2.2g used, 13.3g grey/tan remaining
4.2g used, 8.6g ball one white

Lace (size 5 needle)

Joined second ball of white yarn after 4.25 rows of the lace pattern had been completed.
First repeat: 18.9g used, 39.7 remain
Second repeat: 16.2 used, 23.5 remain
Third repeat: 15.9 used, 7.6 remain

I only have enough for three repeats of lace.

Garter (size 4 needle)

1.9g used, 5.7 remain
2g used, 3.7 remain
2g used, 1.7 left.

Bind off (size 8 needle)

Used icord bind off in the contrast color. Went up to size 8 needles because the cast on is so loose, and I want it to look similar.

8g used for bindoff, 5.3g remaining

General notes

This yarn was purchased at Uldstedet København in Copenhagen during my trip there for the annual ASIS&T meeting. I stayed on for an extra day and during my sightseeing with co-workers I snuck off and hit the yarn store with the express purpose of finding yarn for this cowl.

I’d love to make another in fingering weight. I think casting on 296 stitches using an icord cast on would work perfectly.

I was really down to the wire at the end - finished with 2 grams of the white and 5.3 of the grey and tan.
