Notes
Mom asked for pockets so back on the needles this goes got partway through over Christmas but didn’t finish in time.
I love this yarn. I love this yarn! I want to make everything with this yarn from now on!
I dislike standard wrap and turn short rows so I’ll substitute german short rows instead. Here’s a good video tutorial on how to do so. Essentially, you work one extra stitch before turning and working back, which creates a double stitch where you were going to create a wrapped stitch. On the way back, you simply knit the double stitch as if it were a regular stitch. No worrying about picking up the wraps or any of that nonsense.

Having a hard time with gauge.
Size 4: 28 sts by 36 rows
Size 5: 25 sts by 34 rows
Size 6: 23sts by 32 rows

Decided to make a Magnolia instead - the gauging issue with the Make a Wish was just too much for me to risk it. I’ll get some sport or heavy-fingering weight yarn for a Make a Wish at a different time.

Finished the back today! Tomorrow I will start the right front. I’ve decided to do garter stitch instead of the ribbing on the bottom of the sweater and on the cuffs. Someone else did this on Ravelry and it looks great. I think it looks more cohesive with the garter shoulders. I will probably bind off using the Icelandic method, which is stretchy and looks good in garter.

Still plugging away at this! I’ve got a long way to go. I’m still LOVING this yarn, loving this colorway, and can’t wait to get to the sleeves. I’ll probably start those today. I’ve got about ten inches left of the body to do as well (sigh). So much stockinette! So little time!
December 30, 2015
I’ve got about three inches of the body left before I start the garter border on the bottom! I’ve used about two skeins of yarn so far.
I’m not sure that I should have alternated skeins the way that I did. Next time, I will start alternating right after the garter shoulders, rather than waiting until I join the yarn under the armholes. That said, the alternating skeins stripey issue is much more evident in the photographs than it is in real life.
Also, don’t slip the first stitch on each row after you switch out of garter. I am a little worried that it’s going to look a little crummy when I pick up the stitches for the button band, because I slipped the first stitch on each row for awhile and then switched to just knitting it part of the way through - I think I started this after joining the front to the back, but I can’t remember.
I had my mom try the partial cardigan on over Xmas, and plan to make the body 17 inches long and the sleeves 16 inches long.

Started the bottom band yesterday! I knit to 12 inches (unblocked) under the armpit knowing that the sweater will grow at least an inch or two after blocking, based on my gauge swatch. My mom only wants the sweater to be 17 inches long (measured under armholes), so a three inch garter band at the bottom will bring it to 15 inches before blocking.
I’m doing garter instead of ribbing on the bottom and on the cuffs. I also decided, based on some discussion in the forums, not to use bello for the cuffs or the bottom band - I think it will pill too quickly given the high cashmere content. I have other plans for the old money bello skein, so this works out fine. :D

Started the right sleeve today. I’m not alternating skeins on the sleeves; I think this will look fine. I finished the bottom garter border last night; it’s three inches long. Unblocked, the sweater is 15 inches long. Moved down to size 5 needles for the sleeves.

The sleeve was almost 12.5 inches long after finishing the decreases. I added six extra rows after the seventh decrease repeat.
I tried continuing magic loop for the ribbed cuffs, but I really dislike magic loop and I really dislike ribbing, so it was a perfect storm of nope. I switched to double-points. I’m doing the cuffs in the needle size called for in the pattern (2.5) even though I went up a needle size for the body and sleeves. It looks fine.

I’ll probably use ysolda’s one row buttonhole technique when I get to the button band.

Finished the right sleeve! Did tubular bind off after practicing it first and I’m happy with how it turned out. Did four inches of cuff as called for in the pattern.

Pickéd this up after a long hiatus, after realizing that I picked up the stitches for the left sleeve incorrectly and had knit most of the sleeve before my awful discovery. There was an ugly seam. Had my friend rip the sleeve out and started again the other day.
To pick up stitches, I skipped every other stitch on the stockinette part and picked up every stitch in the garter section. This got me the right number of stitches around.

Finally got to the point where I was when I realized the sleeve was picked up wrong. Four decreases down, three to go, and then I do the cuff. :)
Notes: sleeve, 6. Decreases: 7 (think I am done with this?) sleeve reset to 0 at 12. Sleeve shows alert at 11. Sleeve will increase decreases every 12.

Picked this back up. 35 rows on the sleeve ribbing.
Grew a lot when blocked (as I’d hoped). Body went from 12” to 16” and bottom garter went from 2.5” to 4”. So it’s 20” long, measuring from under the armpit. I assume this will bounce up a little bit as it’s worn and it should be the perfect client.

34 rows up from garter bottom, 9 rows from side - after thought pocket placed, 22 stitches wide.
