Notes

I’m making a size Small and doubling two skeins of lace weight yarn. This pattern is very straight-forward and well written.

Super fast and very easy knit. It’s an easy pattern to memorize. I’m 25% done after a day of unfocused social knitting.

I typically take notes on projects as I work through them, but this particular pattern was so straightforward and clear that I didn’t find a need to do so. I was able to complete about 10% of the shawl every day, with about an hour to an hour and a half of knitting each evening, so the whole thing took about 12 or 13 hours to finish.

I was concerned with the picot bind-off because typically I have seen picots as a “cast on X and cast off 2X” e.g., cast on two and cast off four, and this pattern had me casting off five for each picot. But actually this works fine and gives a nice spacing between each picot.

I really like the last part of the pattern; it knits up so squishy.

This yarn is perfect - the heather brings in some reddish strands, even. Very pretty and complex-looking. My friend Martha loved it.
