This one has been in the closet for nearly 4 years (yikes!), while I make up my mind about the edging. Do I like it or not? Do I sew it on or not? Also, I wasn’t too concerned about gauge and now I’m thinking the result is not big enough and too rectangular. Perhaps I should just consider this project an objet d’art and forget about its being functional. I’ll make it again some time in the future, with more suitable yarn.

Measures 21 inches across, no border, or 25 inches with border.
35 inches tall, no border or 39.5 with the border.

Feb 16, 2019 - Finally sewed the edging on, after 8 years in the closet. Still not sure I like it. Plus, over the intervening years I’ve become a yarn snob. Red Heart Super Saver yarn just isn’t my choice for anything any more. At least not for anything I would make as a gift any more.

The leaves just wouldn’t uncurl, so I ironed it using steam, with a tea towel between it and the iron. I didn’t want to melt it!! And so it goes.

Finished measurements after sewing on the edging and steaming it: 28” X 42”. That’s better. But if I were to make it again, I would use wool or cottom and ensure that it is a wider rectangle.
