Notes

First try. Got gauge with worsted and size 5 needle, but worsted is a bit limp for slippers, and they would look better with a bulky yarn and tight gauge for a firmer fabric.

Thanks to Ravelers, am doing the purling in the round by knitting inside out, using German short row double stitch to conceal the holes. Next time will try Portuguese knitting the purl rounds, maybe even simpler.

I originally thought that Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off worked great, but after wearing it I found the cuff a little too loose. Tried other bindoffs, too tight. Settled on JSSBO with a smaller needle.

Last observation: gauge really needs to be tight, otherwise the slippers stretch out a lot with wear. That’s why I stopped making these with worsted, and got better results with bulky weight and size 3-5 needle.

See my next pair, Slippers for Sarah.
