Notes

Crochet cast on for motifs being attached to the R side of a motif; backwards loop cast on for motifs on the L side.
Picking up stitches as per Yarn Harlot, creates a nice wrong side with minimal ridges.

Beautiful pattern, a little confusing as to the construction, but a little help from the forum straightened me out.

First time using Loft.. I love the slightly felted quality although this makes it a little harder to see where to pick up stitches. The yarn is very thin in spots but seems to be holding up. Heathery colors are gorgeous. Feels a bit rough, not soft, but not itchy either.

TIPS:

  1. Pick up sts with a smaller needle.

  2. Sometimes I noticed a gap where the point of one motif meets the motif above it, so when picking up sts in the middle sections, I picked up an extra stitch to cover the gap, then on the next row I k2tog to correct for that.

  3. At the start of each motif, put a clip marker on the R side of the fabric to remind me of the decrease rows. Also checked stitch count frequently to make sure I always have an even number of sts.

  4. Knit in the ends as you go: https://youtu.be/Fz292NAjH2M

  5. Spray blocked the work periodically as I went along, just nicer to work with, as the yarn blooms so much and the work lies flatter.

Bindoff- I used Icelandic bindoff. Did not break yarn after each motif - After binding off the first motif of the last tier, I kept the loop from the last stitch, then picked up 36 stitches for the next motif, added that loop onto the needle, then k2tog.
